My Professional Background
These pages list my professional background. I have been working as a software developer in the PC industry for over 20 years. I never worked on the 8-bit systems but I started on the 16-bit systems when they first came out. I have also managed software development teams at up to the director level. I purposely switch back to pure development when I need to learn a new technology so I can manage development from a position of knowledge.

Writing
In my spare time I sometimes write. I have written three books and numerous magazine articles. These have spanned the gamut from highly-technical subjects to management to fiction.

Speaking
I have spoken regularly at several conferences. As the pace of development has increased I have reduced my speaking to almost nothing because it is impossible to commit months in advance when a project deadline could make it impossible for me to attend.
